Help for Jess

Hi my name is Dani and I'm making this page in support of my 23 year old friend Jess who is battling metastatic stage 4 melanoma which has spread to her right lung. Earlier this year the primary source was found and few months later they found a secondary tumor measuring around 9mm and currently it meassures around 14mm. Jess is having chemo therapy and immunotherapy and they are gradually increasing her dose as so far there is no improvement. If the treatment works and there is a dramatic shrinkage they will operate and remove the lower part of her lung (called a wedge resection surgery). Jess has a wonderful fighting attitude towards beating the cancer and has coped extremely well so far with her treatment. Jess has seen both sides of what this cancer can do as her dad went through the same but definately unexpected to go through at her age. But recently with the higher dosage she is becoming weak and exhausted, she suffers from almost constant nausia and or vomiting and can hardly eat, has lost weight and also lost about 50% of her beautiful thick long hair (update Jess and her partner have now both shaved their hair). Jess was working full time until just recently she has had to cut back her hours and wont be able to work much longer but she is holding on as long as she can. Jess lives in Tauranga with her partner and 2 young children, it's becoming difficult to hide her symptoms from the kids and it's very hard to decide how much they should know. They were included in shaving her head to understand more because it was constantly falling everywhere and her scalp is irritated and sore so we hope to raise a little towards a better wig (she will be given a grant towards it but it wont cover the full cost) and any remaining money will go towards things such as fuel and day to day costs after leaving her job. Jess has no biological family supporting her through this but is very grateful for the people she considers family. Thanks for reading and for any contributions.
