We are raising funds for a very kind lovely man who lost his whole house in a fire after lovingly restoring it, who has no insurance.

We are raising funds for Steve Reid, a hard working kiwi who lost his entire house and contents to a fire on Tuesday 11th August and sadly did not have his insurance up to date.

Steve had been lovely restoring the house he and his 4 siblings were raised in, his father Robert Reid had built it himself in the 50's. Steve and his partner had only just moved in two weeks ago, after 2 years of renovating it himself.

Steve has been a hard working Panel Beater in Waikino his whole adult life until the last few years when he became too sick to continue, he has ongoing heath issues, and now, sadly no where to live and no money to re-build.

He's not the kind of guy to ask for help so the page has been set up by his son Bob and neice Misty, he's not on social media so we are hoping to surprize him and show him lots of love and support from this page and give him some hope to rebuild something.

Any amount is so appricated and also any messages will be passed onto him, we expect the kindless to blow him away, we know he'll cry!

Use of funds

The funds will help Steve get back on his feet, depending on the amount raised, we hope to at least get him a camper or caravan to stay in on the section, or if we raise alot it will be used as a deposit to start all over again.

Update on Steve Reid, and his house fire 8 September 2020

First of all, thank you so very much for your kindness, every single donation has meant so much to Steve, he is so humbled, surprised and simply blown away by everyone's compassion, even strangers! He hasn't yet seen the list of donations, but I will share all donations and comments with him when this closes off.

A little update: Steve and Shelly are doing okay, they are staying just 10 minutes away from the home in a friends small sleep out/studio. The house is beyond repair sadly so has to be bull dozed down. Steve has a small building on the back of the section that he is planning on putting a new roof on, and doing some renovations to. It won't replace his home obviously, but he feels it's too late in life to get a mortgage so is just going to make the best out of this building. So as you can imagine every single dollar that we've raised here is going to go a long way to help rebuild something for them to live in.
