A community fundraiser supporting Fran, community social worker and kaitiaki, to rebuild her life after losing her home and belongings.
Whakatane, Bay Of Plenty
In the blink of an eye, everything changed😔
Our dear friend Fran and her three beloved dogs, lost their home and all of their belongings in a devastating house fire on James street, Whakatāne. While we are deeply grateful her life was spared, Fran is now facing the overwhelming reality of starting again from nothing, sadly not being covered by insurance.
Fran is a social worker who lives and breathes manaakitanga and aroha. She has spent her life giving to others, supporting whānau, and standing as a kaitiaki for those walking through hardship, often placing her own needs last.
Now, she finds herself in a position of vulnerability, something she so often helps others navigate. The fire destroyed everything from clothing, furniture, personal taonga, and the simple comforts that make a home. We are reaching out to our wider whānau and community to now wrap that same aroha around Fran.
All donations will go towards emergency accommodation, clothing and basic necessities, dog kennels and colars, dog food etc and helping Fran begin the long journey of rebuilding her home and life.
This is manaakitanga in action—caring for one who has always cared for others. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page. Every act of kindness helps restore hope.
Ngā mihi nui ❤️
Fran has been a loving, supportive pillar in my life; we grew together through our Bicultural Social Work Degree, and I deeply respect her grace and unwavering aroha🧡
The funds will help cover emergency accommodation, clothing, basic household needs, and care for Fran’s three dogs, with the main goal of supporting her to rebuild her home, stability, and sense of safety after the fire.
