Help fund my top surgery!

No person is one single thing. In my case, I'm a writer, a volunteer, an owner of a fiercely independent chihuahua, a nerd, chronically ill, and transgender.

I came out a few years ago, when I finally had the words to put to how I felt inside my own skin. That in itself was a revelation and a relief, and I've been incredibly lucky to have such a supportive network of people around me.

I've known I needed top surgery for years, even before I knew such a surgery existed, and initially I tried to get on the waitlist through the public system. However, due to chronic conditions that haven't yet even been diagnosed (three years working and still going!) some of the medications that allow me to even get up in the morning have caused me to gain a lot of weight. Weight that doesn't come off even with a regimented exercise and eating plan.

Because of this, something that a year ago felt attainable (getting down to a weight within the public system requirements) is not genuinely insurmountable and out of my reach. So I decided to go through a private surgeon who told me that even at my current weight, the surgery should go through without a hitch.

Unfortunately, I need a little more money to help me get there! I'm just short of being able to cover all the costs, and this last push before the surgery date (July 28th) would really help me out.
