Supporting Wame’s journey home to Fiji, so he can rest with his family and loved ones.
Auckland
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Wame on 31 March, following a motorcycle accident in Rarotonga.
Wame 'Roy' (as he was known to his family) was a well-loved and familiar face to many, having worked at On The Beach Bar and Restaurant, as well as The Edgewater Resort and Spa in Rarotonga. Anyone who had the privilege of meeting him will remember his kind nature and gentle presence. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, always going above and beyond for those around him. He was truly a gentle giant, and children especially were drawn to his warm and caring spirit. He was also a loving father to his children, who meant a great deal to him.
In 2025, Wame spent a few months in New Zealand, where he played rugby for the Hikurangi Premier Team in Northland, as well as a team in Gisborne. Later returning to Fiji to spend time with his family, before going back to Rarotonga to continue his work.
Wame was one of the kindest people you could meet, and his loss is deeply felt by all who knew him.
He was always someone who looked out for others and gave support without hesitation. Now, we are asking for support to help carry him home to Fiji on his final journey, so he can be laid to rest with his family, surrounded by those who love him. We are deeply grateful for any support during this difficult time.
Wame is my nephew.
The funds raised will go towards covering the costs of of the funeral and related expenses, so he can be laid to rest with his family.
