Everything lost to devastating housefire
Dairy Flat, Auckland
I'm creating this page for Grace, the mother of my two children, and our kids after a devastating fire destroyed their home on Father's Day.
In a matter of minutes, they lost almost everything. Their bedrooms, clothes, furniture, everyday necessities and a lifetime of belongings were consumed by the fire, along with the things no amount of money can replace. Photographs, keepsakes and pieces of the children's childhoods. They do have contents insurance, however this will not cover all costs.
They escaped with little more than the clothes they were wearing and their lives. Grace, our children and their dog are safe, and for that we will be eternally grateful.
But now they face the overwhelming reality of rebuilding an entire life from almost nothing.
Those who know Grace know how fiercely independent she is and how much she hates asking for help. She has always worked hard to provide for our children, but this fire has taken that choice out of her hands. Right now, she has been forced to lean on the kindness of others while she finds her feet again.
They don't yet have a permanent home to fill with replacement belongings, so funds raised will help with the immediate costs of displacement, finding a home, replacing essentials and eventually rebuilding an entire household.
No donation is too small. Every little bit will help put a piece of their lives back together. If you can't donate, sharing this page means just as much.
We can't give them their old home back, but together we can help them build a new one.
She is the mother of my children.
