Help Hunter Burke represent New Zealand in Luge. Ultimate goal the Junior World Champs in Norway 2024 .
Wanaka, Otago
Hunter has the opportunity to represent NZ again in Luge. He has competed twice before in Europe, including the Winter Youth Olympics in St Moritz 2020.
He found out last week he was selected in the NZ Under 21 Men's Curling team and now we can take this opportunity to keep him on in Europe (Curling World B Championships are in Finland in Dec) to train on proper luge tracks and compete, ultimately ending with the Junior World Championships taking place in Lillehammer Norway in February 2024.
I'm Hunter's Mum, trying to help him to fulfil his passion for this sport "Luge".
Luge in NZ is a very minor sport and we get no support from the government or
the NZ Olympic Committee.
Accommodation & meals $ 8,500,
Other expenses $1750
Travel & competition medical insurance $1,250
Travel in Europe incl airfare – Helsinki to Innsbruck $1, 000
Less: Funding from NZ Luge $2,500
= $10,000 needed
Hunter's 2023/24 Luge season 16 March 2024
To update everyone, Hunter's season went extremely well. He placed 27th out of 31 competitors at the World Junior Championships in Norway. We are now fundraising again and also looking for sponsorship so he can complete a full season of training at the end of this year. Thanks again, as all the contributions helped to fund his time in Europe.
