To help cover the costs of Isabella studying classical ballet at Kings International Ballet Academy, Leicester, UK.
Auckland
Isabella has been working really hard her dancing for many years and is about to get one giant step closer to realizing her dreams.
After being accepted to Ballet West Scotland with a partial scholarship in April 2020, Isabella's dream came crashing to the ground when allegations of long-term abuse were uncovered just 2 and a half weeks before she was due to leave for Scotland. This page was shut down and all fundraising efforts ground to a halt. Isabella was immediately withdrawn from the school, and in the subsequent fortnight, the school was completely dissolved and is now in insolvency.
UK ballet Schools quickly came to the rescue and Isabella was immediately offered a place at Kings International Ballet Academy in Leicester, a small but dedicated school run by two amazing ladies, Cheryl Thrush and Tania Matos. Kings is dedicated to all students reaching their potential and having 100% of students employable after their studies. Students earn a Professional Dancers Diploma accredited by BDQT as well as a Diploma in Teaching and a Diploma in Anatomy. The choice of a Diploma instead of a degree allows dancers to focus more on what actually matters in a dance career - Dance, gaining many more hours a week in practical experience. Isabella is excited with the new challenge of learning the Russian System of dancing under the Association of Russian Ballet and Theatre Arts (ARBTA).
Isabella has been working really hard for the last three years raising money for her ballet education including breeding and raising puppies, scrubbing and painting fences, and weeding and planting gardens, but there is still a long way to go with the fees, rent, flights, uniforms, ballet gear, and pointe shoes (lots and lots of pointe shoes!). Isabella needs help to raise money for the remaining costs. Deposits and payments have been lost due to the closure and insolvency of Ballet West and COVID-19 has caused a huge disruption this year to the usual avenues of competitions and scholarships that would normally be available to dancers. Please help Isabella achieve her dream of becoming a professional ballerina!
Isabella Guyan is the beneficiary, Catherine Guyan is the parent of Isabella Guyan who is 16 years old.
Fees, accommodation, flights, uniforms, pointe shoes, and physio. Any surplus will be donated to another deserving dancer in a similar circumstance. If things don't go to plan then the money will be used to explore other overseas dance schools.
Isabella has found a new school - Kings International Ballet Academy 28 August 2020
After the turmoil of the last couple of weeks I am excited to announce my acceptance to a new school, Kings International Ballet Academy near Leicester, UK. The school is in a little village, Barwell in the centre of the UK. The directors are energetic, enthusiastic and incredibly welcoming. I am sure it is the best place for me to be nurtured and supported to reach my goals and I am excited to get there and get to work.
Fortunately my flights were not cancelled so I leave on the 1st of September, 2020. I still have a few visa issues to iron out as it needs to be transferred to my new school, but Kings is working really hard on it at their end!
