Help Jackie fight stage 4 bowel cancer

Please help Jackie. This has been a long and grueling journey she has endured for the past 2 years. Please help her and her son Zac.

Cambridge, Waikato

Jackie is a single mum to her beautiful son Zac, who is the light of her life. Zac is non-verbal autistic, and he relies on his mum in every aspect of daily life. In 2023, Jackie received the devastating news that she has Stage 4 bowel cancer. It’s been a whirlwind of appointments, scans and treatment - but the toughest part is not just the diagnosis, it’s trying to stay strong for Zac while facing an uncertain future. As a single parent, every day is a balancing act between giving Zac the support and childhood he deserves and fighting for her own life. She wants nothing more than to be here for him - to watch him grow up, to support him through school, and to be his biggest cheerleader in life. Even though she is fighting this horrendous battle Jackie has been a strong advocate for lowering the bowel screening age and has bravely shared her story in the hope it can save other people’s lives. There are treatments that can help prolong her life and improve her quality of life, but sadly, not all of them are publicly funded. For the past year Bevacizumab, a targeted therapy that has shown real promise for people in her situation. Unfortunately it’s not funded in NZ for bowel cancer, and the cost is starting to add up - far more than she can manage on her own. In addition to Bevacizumab, she is also seeking support for: High dose vitamin C infusions. Essential supplements to support her immune system to help her cope with chemotherapy.

I am a very close friend of Jackie’s parents. Have known Jackie from birth. She is a beautiful young lady going through way too much. She is the most amazing mum to Zac and needs as much support as she can get.
