Help Jax Walk Again – Getting the Answers He Deserves ❤️
Rolleston, Canterbury
Our beautiful 9-year-old Jax has one simple wish: to walk again.
2½ years ago, Jax suffered a serious hip injury and later developed CRPS. Since then, his leg has remained severely bent and he has been unable to fully straighten it, stand or walk normally.
We recently saw an orthopaedic surgeon to investigate a possible physical contracture. Unfortunately, Jax could not straighten his leg enough for the hamstring or other soft tissues to be properly assessed. An X-ray showed no fracture or tumour, but the cause remains unknown.
We were told his inability to straighten the leg is psychological and that no further orthopaedic investigation is needed.
We aren't ready to give up.
Jax is autistic and has lived with severe pain and the loss of his ability to walk for 2½ years. We are seeking an independent assessment from a specialist paediatric limb reconstruction team experienced in complex lower-limb cases and contractures.
We have contacted a specialist children's hospital in Australia and are seeking an assessment for Jax.
We don't know whether surgery will be possible. We just need answers.
Funds will help cover specialist consultations, imaging, investigations, travel, accommodation and other medical costs.
Our initial goal is $10,000 NZD so we can act quickly if Jax is accepted.
Jax deserves the chance to find out what is happening to his leg and whether there is a pathway back to walking. ❤️
Every donation and share means the world to our family.
We are not giving up on him.
