Help Jo Create More Time with Her Son

  • **Support Jo's Journey: Help Us Reach the Finish Line**

      26 November 2025

Jo is beginning her unfunded cancer treatment with Trodelvy today—marking the first step in an important chapter. All our hard work and fundraising have led to this moment. We couldn't do this without your support.

Trodelvy is the last available treatment option for her, so let’s keep her in our prayers and hope it brings positive results.

**However, we're still financially short for the next four cycles of treatment. Your continued donations can make all the difference in helping Jo complete her necessary care. Please consider giving what you can to support her journey. Every contribution brings us closer to giving her the best shot at recovery and having more time with her whānau. Please help by giving Jo's give a little page a share 🙏

The world feels heavy right now, but together, we hold onto hope.

  • Where are we on this journey?

    Kia ora e te whānau,

We recently came together to celebrate Russell turning 4 and Jo turning 44! cherishing the moments we share. Birthdays are such a special time to gather, reflect, and give thanks for the memories we create together—building strength and love as we move forward.

Where are we on this journey?

Right now, we’re continuing with oral chemotherapy, and it's reassuring to see that it's helping to stabilize the bone cancer—meaning it's not spreading. That’s a small but powerful victory.

We'll keep going with this treatment as long as it works, each day holding onto hope and strength.

When the cancer becomes resilient and no longer responds, we’re prepared to move forward with Trodelvy—our next step.

Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve already raised enough funds for five cycles of Trodelvy. That’s five more chances, five more opportunities to keep fighting and dreaming of brighter days ahead.

We are still actively fundraising for the remaining three cycles of treatment, which are $13,000 each.

While Trodelvy is a powerful medication, it can come with challenging side effects. We remain hopeful that the oral chemotherapy will continue to be effective for a little longer, giving us more time and opportunity to raise the necessary funds and keep fighting.

Together, we’re stronger—fighting with love, hope, and resilience every step of the way.

Thank you for your ongoing support and care we are truly blessed. Please help to share our story 💜

  • Tracking Slowly

Morena, just a quick update. Things are tracking along slowly, we are still only half way to our goal. The Games night fundraiser was a hit for all those who joined us and those that done all the hard work to make it happen. A total of $8k was raised from the night. Our next fundraising event is a Family Fun Day at Wainuiomata Rugby Club giving back to the community with free kids entertainment, market stalls, food Trucks and more, look out for our raffle tables as we have some amazing prizes. For me, im still taking the oral chemo Capecitabine and will find out next month if it is doing any good. Fingers crossed it is as we still have a fair bit of money to raise for the Trodelvy. Pain has been intermittent with a few trips to hospital but still not giving up hope. Again i am very grateful for every single donation, i know times are tough for everyone. 💜🥰

We have some important updates regarding Jojo’s treatment. We now have the figures for the cancer treatment, Trodelvy, which is essential to help prolong her life. The first 8 cycles initially, costing $127,586. After that, the ongoing cost drops to $6,083 per cycle, covering administration and GST.

To continue supporting Jojo, we’ve updated our fundraising goal to $120,000. While we're rallying together and dedicated to helping Jojo, this target is quite ambitious. We truly appreciate any help you can give — every contribution makes a difference.

Thank you for your kindness, support, and positivity during this challenging time. Together, we can make a meaningful impact for Jojo.

  • Standing Strong with Jo – Aroha, Advocacy, and Hope

      24 August 2025

    Kia ora whānau,

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the aroha and support you have shown Jo. We are humbled and deeply moved by your generosity.

We want to share that we will soon be launching a petition to have Trodelvy funded here in Aotearoa. This treatment is already available in Australia, Europe, and America – and it works. Trodelvy prolongs life, and we want not only Jo but also others with metastatic cancer in New Zealand to have that same chance. Jo’s oncologist has confirmed that the first six treatments, spread over three months, come at a cost of around $78,000 – and that doesn’t include GST or administration fees. The reality of this is tough, but we remain hopeful and determined.

Last week was challenging with hospital visits, but Jo dug deep and pushed through with the courage and strength of a true mana wāhine. She continues to inspire us every day.

We’re also excited to share that Jo’s story had its first media highlight, helping to raise awareness and give a stronger voice not only to her journey but to others walking the same path.

Beyond treatment, Jo finds joy in the things she loves – playing games with her kids and friends, whether it’s poker, chess, quizzes, or board games. Here’s a photo of her mid-chess match 🧡

If you’re local, we would love to see you at our Quiz Night on September 27th – a night of fun, laughter, and community in support of jo. More info on eventbrite -Gamesnightforjo

    With love,

    Jo and whānau ❤️

  • Treatment Update

First off thank you all so very much for your donations and support. It has been so humbling and it has given me hope back. We have just meet with the Oncologist this morning and will be starting Capecitabine today which is an oral chemo treatment. We have to have this before we can move onto Trodelvy. Will be 3 months before another scan to see if this treatment is working at stabalizing the cancer. This is good as it will give us more time to fundraise as Trodelvy and the administration of it is not cheap. Again Thank you all so so much. Arohamai Jo
