Help Kaharau and Our Whānau Heal

Kia ora, my name’s Te Whetūmārama and I’m mum to my beautiful boy, Kaharau, who’s nearly one.

Since he was just a few months old, we’ve been on a tough journey with his skin. He developed severe eczema that kept getting infected with staph and yeast. We’ve tried so many things, doctors, antibiotics, diet changes, natural remedies and while some things help a bit, nothing has given him long-term relief.

Most days his skin is sore and itchy. He scratches until he bleeds, wakes through the night uncomfortable, and misses out on just being a carefree baby. Watching him go through this has been the hardest thing as a mum.

It’s also taken a big toll on me. I’ve ended up with bad eczema myself, recurring staph infections, and gut issues from all the stress. Because I’m still breastfeeding, my health affects his too, so I need to heal alongside him.

We are now looking at overseas options for treatment, as what we’ve tried here in NZ hasn’t been enough. But the costs for travel, consults, and treatment are just too much for us to cover alone, which is why I’m reaching out for help, something I never thought I’d do.
