Help KB rep the fern in Račice!!
Nelson / Tasman
Ki ora team,
I'm Kayla Baker and I have recently been selected as part of the Junior Womens Four to race at the Junior World Rowing Championships in Račice, Czech Republic August of this year.
I am still absolutely gobsmacked that I am one massive step closer (3 months and counting) to living out my dream of representing New Zealand on the world stage for rowing. I have had the privilege of rowing for the Nelson rowing Club for the past four years, under the guidance of two brilliant coaches- shout out to Hannah Starnes and Tim Babbage! The next five weeks I will be spending in Nelson grinding it out on the erg and hopefully flat Autumn water before relocating up to Cambridge with the rest of my team mates for an 8 week block of intensive training leading into the departure for Czech Republic at the end of July.
I am extremely excited and proud to be able to represent not only my Country, but also my Family, Club and Community with pride.
However this dream does not come without a significant cost, one that myself and family can not cover alone.
Any donation big or small will be immensely appreciated, going towards my $9950 contribution towards the international tour and living costs in Cambridge, including: Accomodation, food and travel expenses both in New Zealand and overseas.
While living in Cambridge I will also have a part time job which I hope will cover some of the domestic costs, however I will be limiting my work hours as I need to be able to put 110% of my effort into training for those 8 weeks.
Thank you very much Uncle Darren and Lisa!! See you then
thanks Meg! Feeling very honoured
