Ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou.
During the current COVID-19 pandemic, the incredible team at Kokiri Marae have been doing some amazing work providing badly-needed food and supplies to local whānau in Wainuiomata and surrounding areas in the Hutt Valley. With no other food banks open in the Hutt Valley area currently, their food bank has been providing over 300 parcels a week to households of five to eleven adults and children. While other local organisations like the Mormon Church and Common Unity have been graciously providing some support, the team at Kokiri have also been pulling money from their own pockets to provide these supplies for their community. They are utilising a mana-enhancing process that avoids whānau queuing for their food parcels by talking to whānau over the phone and delivering their kai to their doorstep.
As a Māori health provider, the team at Kokiri Marae understand the impact of the current crisis on the long-term health of their community. Please show your tautoko and aroha for the crucial work they are doing by making a small donation – all funds go directly to the Kokiri Marae team.
