I have sought some advice and assistance from CPL, the cat rescue where we adopted Lea from back in Dec 2022. Today, I am disclosing proof of the vet costs: from our regular vet clinic, At The Vets Brougham, and After Hours Vet Clinic where Lea spent most of her hospitalisation as well as where the surgery was successfully performed.
The goal was lowered from $10k down to $8.5k at my discretion based on the rough estimates of the overall costs for Lea Brando's recent care: vet costs, special food, and a very small portion making sure my partner and I are not on the verge of homelessness or starvation after dropping almost all of his (and all of my) small savings to reduce the amount of Afterpay and Zip total payments.
Please have a look at the screenshots/photos I've attached as evidence of everything (provided as a link to a Google Drive below).
We would've struggled to pay the first few installments on Afterpay and Zip if it weren't for the sharing of the link + donations from you all generous souls, and all the understanding buyers of our valued collectible items!
Any questions are more than welcome under this post.
Kind regards and take care, everyone x

Attached to this update is a recent photo of a sleepy Lea Brando. My bf is the one holding her up after she was cuddling and sleeping on him. Since Lea became an outpatient and soon discharged, we are to monitor the surgical site for any swelling. So far, so good!
Her HUGE appetite is back, but it feels so weird for us to witness how slow she eats now. I don't think she's been able to groom her body either, but I see her cleaning her face and paws every now and then. I think we'll be using the cat steam brush later just because I know she's itching to properly groom herself! Poor girl knows her abdomen is not the same as before.
Anyhow, I titled this update as "Important Update" as--while me and my partner are selling anything and everything we can from each other's collections--it's been difficult to sell anything lately. This also occurred at the same time as the donations have stopped.
Like I said on my (popular YouTuber) friend's post, we're not expecting to reach exactly $10k. I merely used it as an estimate based on a friend's past experience with a dog who had pancreatitis (and other things that Lea didn't have) which costed about $10k overall. Lea's overall bills is definitely around the $8k-$8.2k mark. What I'm trying to say is while we're so glad that Afterpay and Zip exist as payment plans, we're left scrapping to be able to pay them off.
I ask you all kindly to keep us in your thoughts and keep sharing the link to this page when you can. THANK YOU!
A bit of a yuck update, haha! But Lea Brando has finally gone toilet to do number two!
For days, I was starting to get worried as she only kept peeing even though she'd been eating food albeit small amounts. We continuously monitor how she's doing, especially her digestive system which was assisted with some medication (when she was hospitalised) that would help get her guts moving as they should be again.
She's also been super cuddly and been extra clingy with me. When we went for her first follow-up appt on Monday (she's still an outpatient, hence the follow-ups), she looked at me and my partner like she was scared we'd leave her there again. I, of course, reassured her and showed her that no, we're not leaving her there to be confined again, it was just a check up, and that we'll be going home very soon!
With all that said, Lea Brando's acting like she didn't go through so many procedures (blood tests, draining fluid out of her stomach via esophagus, etc.), she's been running and jumping before we can stop her! She's not allowed to do any physical stuff yet - she has to be quarantined for 14 days. While we're glad she's acting like herself again, our main worry is her accidentally ripping the stitches down her abdomen! The cut is very long; I wish I could show you all a photo, but I know some people would not wanna see something left from an operation...
As always, we thank everyone for their support! xx
I woke up exhausted--taking care of an outpatient baby cat takes its toll!--and noticed how very lively Lea is acting today! I was so confused with the way she was walking around as if she doesn't have a long cut with stitches down her abdomen...
She went around to the side of the bed (next to where I lay) motioning with her head that she wanted to be able to jump up on the bed for some cuddles. About half an hour or so later, she thought she's well enough to jump off the bed! Silly girl giving me a scare--she doesn't understand she can accidentally rip the stitches from surgery...
Lea has a follow-up appt this afternoon, though, to see how she's doing and the progress of her recovery. I believe she's doing extremely well! The effects of the medications she was on while hospitalised must be starting to wear off.
We still have to administer take-home medications for her; she hates them and she definitely protests! But her improvements have been steady so here's to hoping she continues to recover! Her appetite is starting to come back (I believe because no more remnants of anesthesia left in her system), so I've stopped giving her the half-tablets for anti-nausea/vomiting/inappetence. But the poor girl unfortunately has 3 other medications we still have to continue giving her--that's until we confirm with the vet later this afternoon what to do next regarding the take-home meds :)
We'd also like to express: we're BEYOND GRATEFUL for all the support that everyone's shown us!
Lea has been improving over the last 24 hours while staying at After Hours Vet Clinic.
The vets have successfully eased her off the stronger pain relief meds, so she's more aware of her surroundings. Also, she's apparently eaten some food at around 7am and 11am today which is another improvement to take note of. However, after our call to check in on her just now, apparently Lea's showing disinterest towards having more food.
She is most likely feeling all the differences that have been happening and have happened to her body. We will see if she can come home tonight, and if so, we will receive Home Instructions from the vets on how to take care of her and monitor her wellbeing at home.
Let's hope Lea can be an outpatient and recover soon!
We've received an update from After Hours vets and they said Lea's surgery went well. And that she woke up and was looking around like "what's going on?"
They found a foreign object in her intestine, right next to her pancreas which started the whole inflammation. This pancreatitis then gradually started affecting the surrounding organs such as the stomach and intestines themselves.
Her potassium has apparently lowered again so that will be sorted. She will continue to be monitored overnight.
