Such a huge milestone, and I'm not sorry to be leaving that behind me! The plan from here is to continue immunotherapy (it will go on for another twelve months) and surgery is in roughly one month.
And check out the quiz night raffles, the tables at quiz night have sold out but there's raffle tickets still to be had 😁
This hopefully will reduce as we untangle our way through financing/ kiwisaver processes, and hopefully we get to Complete Pathlogical response by surgery. Thank you all so much ❤️ ❤️ 💪
Funny story... my youngest tugs my hair everytime she walks past me... she is testing for the "big bald moment" about to come, where it starts coming out in chunks. You've gotta keep laughing 🤣🤣🤣
Day one of treatment yesterday, the infusion went okay, apart from apparently being an alien and having no veins 🙄 thank goodness for Ultrasound!
Included in the cocktail, along with the magical immunotherapy is one known as "the red devil" - literally made me pee red in half and hour 😆 (sorry it hasn't killed my TMI tendencies!).
I won't lie, last night was rough and today hasn't been great, it's not called the red devil for nothing 🤢 I'm hoping that I'm an early bloomer. They've added a med today and may have some extra fluids tomorrow if needed
Again massive thanks to you all for your support, your good wishes and, (awkwardly) your very important donations 😬❤ It's only through the amazing fundraising efforts by my fabulous family and the generous support of others that I'm receiving immunotherapy with my chemotherapy!
We have ended up with a treatment pathway that means we need to raise 111k in total. Through donations and savings we're on the way and able to start but with a further 70k-ish to go we still have a long road. We're also trying to break money out of kiwisaver, failed on health as I'm not terminal (can you believe it's okay to fund medication once I'm dying, but not prevent me getting to that stage 😞), so now going back under hardship. Once we are clear what we can or cannot access from there we will update a target. In the meantime please do share our page and thank you
❤️🧡💛
Erin here. Thank you all so much ❤️ it is a big week, the first week of treatment, made possible only by the support of all of you! Last night was the big haircut. From a really young age I've always had very long hair. It's a bit like a security blanket. I couldn't face it falling out in chunks suddenly (and neither could my vacuum!) So I had it all cut off. There were a few tears, but less than I expected. And a bunch of determination to kick cancer butt!
Tomorrow is bloods and echocardiogram, Thursday is and education session with a chemo nurse and Friday is the big day. Again thank you all so much.
Thank you for your support! With your generous help and some scrambling of savings we are able to get going with the first month or so of 6 months treatment ❤️ And we can pay as we go...so for the moment we can pause and focus on the first round of chemo and immunotherapy on 28th April!!
Erin, Jason and kids want to thank everyone who has cared and shared, sent good wishes and to those who have donated, whatever the amount, extra big hugs! It's been a tough time, those who know Erin will know she is fiercely independent and doesn't like to ask for help, so fronting up for the sake of her health and family and asking for support has been about as stressful and uncomfortable as it gets. Our next hurdle is another biopsy next week as the MRI showed a suspicious area her other breast, and hopefully a plan and start date from the oncologist! Again thank you so much, the family are humbled and grateful for your care.
