Help Luca get his new wheels

Luca is a very smart, funny, active and large 6 year old Autistic child from Christchurch, New Zealand.

He loves Disney movies and the corresponding soundtracks from all his favourite movies, all things water play and food is the love of his life.

Luca struggles with anxiety around shopping and often with other outings that should be fun.

The “unknown” timing/location/expectations are a huge trigger that can result in him trying to run away, becoming aggressive, laying on the ground screaming and sometimes becoming an unmovable statue.

I am a single mother who is not fast enough to catch him if he runs, not strong enough to carry him if he gives up and well, nobody deserves the aggressive outburst, let alone the stress to Luca himself.

He has been squeezing himself into a pram meant for babies/toddlers which is both uncomfortable and unsafe but it makes any expectation on him much less as all he really has to do it sit.

We have found a large stroller through Medifab which is designed for special needs children, it is beyond perfection, we have tried him in it but our “Individualised Funding” will only approve half the cost and our chances of getting funding elsewhere is very slim given that Luca’s disability isn’t “physical”.

We have already missed one month of summer battling to get to the halfway mark with funding so I am hoping to raise the other half so we can get out of the house more and enjoy life!
