MAGNZ is raising funds for High Court action challenging unlawful motorcycle ACC levy increases.
Auckland
MAGNZ is preparing judicial review proceedings in the High Court over the motorcycle ACC levy increases.
This case is about fairness, evidence, and accountability.
Motorcyclists are facing major registration cost increases based on “risk” arguments that MAGNZ believes have not been properly justified.
If ACC and the Government are going to charge riders more on the basis of risk, then that risk rating must be lawful, rational, evidence-based, and consistent with the ACC Act.
We do not believe riders have been given proper answers. We do not believe engine capacity is a fair or reliable measure of motorcycle risk. We do not believe the decision-making process has been properly exposed.
Funds raised will help cover direct court-related costs, including filing fees, document preparation, printing, service costs, travel to court, legal support or advice where required, and other costs connected with the judicial review process.
MAGNZ will publish the draft Notice of Proceedings so supporters can see what this is about.
This is not just about one registration bill. It is about whether motorcyclists can be singled out and charged more without proper evidence, reasoning, and accountability.
