My name is Mahdi, and I’ve been dedicated to wrestling since I was 9 years old in Iran. As a young athlete, I achieved numerous championships and became a member of Iran’s national team. Unfortunately, due to injuries and other challenges, I couldn’t compete internationally during those years.
In 2018, I migrated to New Zealand and reignited my wrestling career. Over the past few years, I’ve reached significant milestones, including becoming the New Zealand National Champion twice in a row. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I missed the chance to compete internationally.
Despite these setbacks, my passion for wrestling has never wavered. With the unwavering support of my wife and our two young children, I’ve worked relentlessly to achieve my goals. Last year, I became New Zealand’s Champion once again and earned the qualification to represent the country in international tournaments.
This year, I have two major competitions ahead:
Oceania Championships in March in American Samoa
World Championships in September in Croatia
However, as New Zealand does not provide financial support for wrestlers, all costs must be covered by the athletes themselves. I’m reaching out for your help to make this dream a reality.
With your support, I can proudly represent New Zealand on the world stage and turn years of hard work into a meaningful accomplishment. Every contribution brings me closer to my goal.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support means the world to me and my family!
The money will be spent on covering the costs of travel, accommodation, registration fees for competing in the Oceania Championships in American Samoa.
