Generations have built this club. Help us install a lift to honor past volunteers & keep the club welcoming to all for generations to come.
Puhoi, Auckland
Puhoi Sports & Community Club has been at the heart of our village since the 1930s. Originally built as a rugby club, it soon became far more than a sports ground — it became the place where the community gathers.
Over the decades the club has grown into a true multi-sport and community hub, hosting rugby, netball, tennis, football, cricket and social sport, along with prizegivings, fundraisers, weddings, birthdays and community events. Generations of Puhoi locals have celebrated milestones, supported one another, and created lifelong memories within its walls.
Like much in Puhoi, the club has always been built by locals, for locals. Volunteers have stepped forward again and again to build, extend, maintain and improve the club so it can serve future generations.
In the 1990s, locals expanded the club to create more space for events. With remarkable foresight, they also built a lift shaft, anticipating that one day the building could become fully accessible.
At the time, installing the lift wasn’t financially possible — but thanks to their vision, the opportunity remains.
Accessibility matters. A lift will ensure everyone can freely access all the club offers, including older members, people with mobility challenges, injured players and parents with prams.
Thanks to a NZ Lotteries Commission grant of over $50,000 + our fundraising efforts, we can now complete what they started. With your support, we can honor past volunteers & keep the club welcoming to all for generations to come.
All funds raised will go directly toward installing a fully functioning lift at the Puhoi Sports & Community Club, including all associated construction, engineering, compliance, and installation costs.
