Taking Mega Time Squad to Sydney or around the South Island and promoting NZ Film

Wellington

My latest feature film, “Mega Time Squad”, has been circulating around the world. It started with sold out sessions at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal; and then went to Auckland, Wellington and Hamilton as part of the New Zealand International Film Festival; and very soon Frightfest in London and the Sydney Underground Film Festival.

GIBBO GOES ACROSS THE DITCH:

Ok, so I originally started this page as a fundraiser to try and get over to Sydney. Which I would really still like to do.

I am currently fundraising to get to the festival in Sydney and promote Mega Time Squad. This will lead to networking, workshops and being able to promote the film alongside the director and one of my co-stars. As well as promote NZ Film

But... If I don't raise enough... I will be going with my backup plan

GIBBO GOES SOUTH:

LOGLINE

Join Gibbo as he visits the South Island promoting his film ‘Mega Time Squad’. You will get to meet the fans and creative industry people, and have a look at the places we visit.

SUMMARY

2018 saw Mega Time Squad being sold out at Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal and in Wellington & Auckland at the New Zealand International Film Festival.

These events included a meet & greet and also a Q&A session with the director and a cast member.

With the release of the film nationwide on the 30th August we have an opportunity to offer others a similar opportunity, when I will be visiting Blenheim, Invercargill, Dunedin and Christchurch where the film will be playing, and hosting a private screening with Gibbo.

This will involve an opportunity to meet with the films fans and hold a Q&A session at the screening.

Finishing off in Christchurch, there will be an after party.

WHO’S GIBBO?

Gibbo is a henchman from Thames. He thrives to impress Shelton (Jonny Brugh) and does what he can to catch Jonny (Anton Tennet). He isn’t the brightest spark in town, but that doesn’t stop him from being a fierce and mighty warrior.

He always works alongside Hootch (Jaya Beach-Robertson) and together, they become The Gootch Squad.

This is the character that I played in Mega Time Squad.

MEGA TIME SQUAD:

A small-town crim finds an ancient Chinese time-travel device that can help him pull off a heist and start a new life-but he may not survive the consequences of tampering with time. The Castle meets Looper, Mega Time Squad is a study in high-meets-low, combining elements of the sci-fi, the crime thriller and the comedy to make a comedy heist film with a time-traveling twist.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE PROCEEDS?

A portion of the proceeds from each event will contribute to our travel and operating costs.

Any surplus proceeds from the private screenings, alongside any donations, will be provided to a creative organisation which supports the development of that regions film and theatre scene. I’ll be visiting Blenheim, Invercargill, Dunedin and Christchurch.

VISUAL PLAN

I will be documenting the journey through the eyes and experiences of Gibbo. I will be attending the screenings in character as Gibbo, which will be a real winner to promote the film.

We will be filming the entire journey from Wellington to Christchurch, including:

• Handing the raised donations to the creative organisation

• Discussions with industry professionals

• Interactions with the audience

• A periodic video diary of the Journey showcasing the South Island

• The Q&A sessions

And of course anything else we encounter and discover along the way!

The cinemas that Mega Time Squad will be playing at are:

• Event Cinemas Blenheim

• Readings Invercargill

• Readings Dunedin

• Hoyts Riccarton

INTENDED USE

In the first instance we intend to publish this as a series of online videos documenting the journey in detail as we go, and then create an edited version to submit as a documentary to festivals.

THOSE INVOLVED

Tim Simpson: Director of NITROmedia, Youtuber, FilmMaker and Geek. A 48 Hour veteran

Axl Scott: The actor that plays Gibbo in Mega Time Squad. Axl has been involved with many projects including a feature film that was shot in 2012. He has been involved with the 48 Hour Film Festival many times.

We will be holding auctions on the night to help fundraise for the Creative Organisations of our choosing.

Use of funds

Funds will go on flights, passport, food and transportation in and around Sydney. It will also give me a little extra to do some fun stuff and get some awesome Vlogging footage. But mainly, this will cover the return trip for the festival.

If I sadly don't make anything close to what I need, I will be going to promote the NZ Film/Theatre scene.
