Help Meghan Survive a Transplant and Live the Life Lung Disease Denied Her

$12,110 donated

Meghan needs a transplant after living a severely limited life. Please help her live the best life she can with whatever time she has ahead.

Wellington

Lung disease has stolen ordinary experiences from Meghan. Even small daily tasks leave her exhausted, keeping her world very small. Most of her life has been spent within four walls, watching the world pass by from a window.

Her lungs were damaged from birth by a heart defect. She had open-heart surgery at just 4 years old but her lungs never recovered and have steadily worsened over time. Now she’s waiting for a double lung transplant to save her life at age 32. Even with the transplant, she may never see her 40th birthday.

It’s heartbreaking to think this might be the best “life” she gets: stuck indoors, missing out on the things others take for granted. She deserves so much more.

Meghan has fought with everything she has - earning qualifications and even writing a book - but her illness has left her severely limited, both physically and financially. Now I care for her full-time as she struggles through each day.

We worry constantly about her health, her prognosis, and how to cover our bills. With available support covering barely half our expenses, we're only months away from losing our rental - and when Meghan gets her new lungs, that miracle will bring new costs and challenges to overcome.

Those who love Meghan desperately want her to have some joy, especially with no guarantee around the time she has left. Please offer your support to provide her with quality of life, essential care, and the chance to truly live - not just survive.

Meghan has been my other half for 16 years. Her positivity and determination in the face of constant struggle are a daily reminder of true strength. I can’t imagine life without her, and it breaks my heart to see her suffer every day.

Use of funds

Essential living costs and bills, now and during the months of recovery, along with a safe environment while on strong immuno-suppressants. And, if possible, help to bring Meghan's new life some joy through new experiences and a step toward stable housing.
