Melanie Irwin's husband Jay died suddenly on 31 January. She needs help to pay for the funeral and the costs of relocating back to NZ.
Auckland
On January 31, 2019 Jay Irwin passed in his sleep (aged 48) of unknown causes.
Jay leaves behind his devoted wife Melanie and their daughters Quinn (10) and Olivia (12), as well as his eldest daughter, Zoe (18). They went from a perfectly happy, healthy family to utterly devastated in just one day.
On top of the sorrow of losing her beloved husband and best friend, Melanie and her girls now face an uncertain financial future with the loss of Jay's income. With no assets, life insurance or will, their lives have been torn apart and it's hard to imagine how long and arduous this chapter of life's journey will be for them.
Let's band together to help relieve some of the current and future financial burden as Melanie needs to relocate back home to New Zealand from California to rebuild their lives again. During this process they need our support with funeral expenses, moving expenses, and the other costs of getting started all over again in New Zealand.
Jay was an exceptional man who made everyone feel welcome and would take the shirt off his back for anyone. We will miss his wonderful stories, laughter and warm energy.
Melanie and the girls will never fully heal from this loss but we can all help by giving them time to grieve without having to think about their future living, relocation and funeral expenses.
Melanie needs to move back to NZ with her 2 young children after her husband died suddenly in their home in California. She has no insurance, no will and no savings.
All funds raised will be used to pay for Jay's funeral and the costs associated with relocating and rebuilding the lives of Melanie and her girls back in NZ.
Jay's wake 15 February 2019
Melanie and the girls saw Jay off last Thursday during a wake held at Mel and Jays apartment. Approximately 40 people attended in person, and a number of people tuned in on line to the facebook live broadcast. The facebook recording is still available to view on my facebook page (Nikki Blomfield) and also on Mel's facebook, so for those that are interested to view the wake/ceremony, it will be up for a few more days.
Thank you all so much for your generous donations. I will be posting an update on Mel's progress with the monumental task of relocating and setting a new home and life from scratch back her in NZ. Much love to you all!! xx Nikki
