From school cycling to the World Championships, recognising a 17 yo athlete years of commitment, perseverance and passion for sports.

Hi, I’m Mia, a Year 13 student at Baradene, and I’m beyond excited to have been selected for the New Zealand Junior Team to compete at the UCI Road World Championships in Canada this September!
My journey here was anything but straightforward. In 2025, while preparing for the Triathlon World Championships, I suffered back-to-back foot fractures and had to withdraw. Sitting at school cycling camp on crutches, I wrote down a new goal: Represent New Zealand in road cycling in 2026. Determined, I even trained in my moon boot! Guided by my coach, Paul L, I poured everything into cycling.
This summer, I placed 3rd at the U19 Elite Nationals and 6th at Oceania Champs, earning my place on the World Championships team. Through frosty mornings, wet rides, and hundreds of kilometres riding solo or with friends, I kept showing up.
Representing Aotearoa is a dream come true, but it is fully self-funded. Travel, accommodation, support staff, equipment, and logistics add up to $14,000. I’m hoping to raise $6,000 to help cover some costs.
Got my back? 🧥
Simply donate any amount, and your name will be added to my "Go Pocket Rocket!" hoodie, travelling with me as a reminder that I have an amazing community behind me.
A huge thank you to my family, the Baradene Cycling Club, FMWC, CMC, and everyone who has believed in me. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference. If you can donate or share this page, I’d be so grateful.
Let’s see how far I can go! 🇳🇿🚴🏻♀️✨
I’m Mia’s proud mum, and I’m fundraising to help support her self-funded journey to the UCI Road World Championships.
Travel costs (internal flights, insurance, storage and other logistics), accomodation, support staff costs, bike parts and equipments, and other expenses.
