Michele and her family need help raising money to help fund the necessary treatment (Keytruda) for her lung cancer.
Auckland
If you know Michele, you know how generous she is. She always has a smile to share and a welcoming heart to all. Now Michele needs your help.
It all started in February when she started feeling like it was the end of the year and the symptoms progressed to a persistent cough and a painful shoulder. After numerous visits to the GP and specialists she was diagnosed with a range of ailments from Coeliac's disease to a Heart condition.
Her condition continued to worsen and she has now been diagnosed with Lung cancer which by the time it was discovered has progressed to Stage 4.
The family has been advised that her best chance is with the drug Keytruda. Sadly Pharmac only fund Keytruda for the treatment of Melanoma, without funding, the treatment could cost up to $90,000.
She has 3 beautiful boys Jordan, Ethan and Nicholas who are students at MAGS and a loving husband Andrew (Billy) who has also lost his parents to cancer. Michele is someone who touches hearts, weather it be family, her friends or strangers. She also works at Unitec and has touched many hearts there too. You can't help but love her.
The boys want their mum to be around as long as possible and share as many milestones with them as she can and above all they still need their mum who is a huge role model in their lives. So they are asking for your help through donations to give their mum the best chance to beat her cancer. So please give as much or as little as you can as everything helps.
Lets give Michele the best chance she can to beat this so the boys have their mum, Billy his wife and we will have our dear friend Michele.
I am a friend of Michele's who wants to help her and her family fund as many treatments as needed of Keytruda to treat her cancer which is not funded by Pharmac.
The money will be spent to help pay for the unfunded drug Keytruda. Any surplus money can be given to the family to support them at this time of need.
Good news for Michele... 9 July 2018
Well since our last update the page has jumped from $30K to $96K - who would have thought. Michele, Billy and family are really touched by all your generosity and really are lost for words. It just goes to show how loved and cherished Michele is to all of us - so thank you.
Michele has now had 3 rounds of Keytruda and Chemotherapy. She has one more Chemo left and then will continue on Keytruda every 3 weeks. Chemo is really taking its toll on Michelle so she is glad for only one more round. Keytruda is a lot gentler on her and her body so that is good news. The next treatment for both is next week. However Michele has a very special week this week - she has a milestone birthday on Wednesday. The lovely people at the charity "Race for Life" are putting Michele and her family up at the Sebel West apartments in town on Thursday with all meals provided including a hot pool, a massage, spa and even her own bath for the day. Transport being no less than a limousine for the special lady and her family. She can't wait and since it is the week before her treatment she will be feeling good for the outing.
And saving the best news to last..... after just 3 treatments her most recent CT scan showed that some of the tumors showed a 50% reduction. Lets hope this trend continues.
Happy Birthday Michele from all of us xx
