Fakalofa atu to all our family and friends near and far 👋🏼

Firstly apologies for not sending another update sooner but please know your kind words, love and support haven't gone unnoticed or felt!

I'm now back in NZ with access to a stable internet connection 😅 so I'll be able to sort things out quicker for Mum.

It's been almost a month since the fire (3 days from today) and Mum is doing really well! Her healing has come a long way even in the week since I left her thanks to her friends who took over her dressing changes and those that have sent/taken more burns creams and parrafin gauzes over for her. She has a doctors appointment tomorrow so we will see what real medical staff have to say...

Mum's noticed an increase in energy, no longer requiring a nap during the day and since the head nurse/maid/chef (me) has left, she's feeling mobile enough to sweep and do the washing daily. I am worried about her eating though because she doesn't normally prioritize that 🤦🏼. But due to the new routine she's now sleeping through the night which is definitely good for her recovery 😊

This weeks goal is to get Mums car sorted so she isn't feeling reliant on others and can go do the things she needs, when she needs. Although she has many people there willing to help her, we all know how Mum is a fiercely independent woman 💪🏼

I've linked the interview Mum and I did for BCN and attached yesterdays comparative pic so until the next update, love to you all from Mum, Coco and me ❤️

  • Fakaue lahi and an update on Mums burns

Firstly we just want to say a heartfelt fakaue lahi mahaki to everyone who has shared the page, sent messages of love and support and donated.

Mum was quite emotional when I gave her an update and I know she was feeling the love before with everyone offering to help, but I think seeing it in this form was a bit overwhelming for her as she's not the type of person to ask for help or 'a hand up/out'.

Her burns recovery is going so well, we knew she was strong willed and mentally strong but her body's healing strength is next level...here are a few comparative pics of her back from when we first arrived to yesterday. If you follow me on FB or Insta, I also posted them there with her arm pics.

As we take each day as it comes, some days she has little to no pain and other days we reach a 7/10, we are also learning which of all our methods, creams and glad wrapping (island bandage) works best for her. So if you ever find yourself with burns, we've got some handy tips for you 😉

It's now time to take today's pics and reapply, so I'll wrap it up with a quote for the day...

'The more you practice the art of thankfulness, the more you have to be thankful for'
