Hi everyone, going gangbusters in remission.. here's a pic from a visit this week on the way to Rotorua for treatment to Wingspan - and yes it was a bit chilly on Tuesday.. Did the 'meet and greet' with Arohaki a male Karearea. very cool and an amazing rehab place for karearea, ruru and others!! Hope winter is treating you all well.. :-)

Hi everyone.. hope you are all coping well as we approach the shortest day. yay!.. treatment is ongoing for me, and targetting the monthly treatments instead of two weekly (2 months away) assuming all goes well. As much as I enjoy visiting Rotorua for treatment, be great not to! Uni semester finished .. exploring next study options. Staying as fit as I can as well. here's a pic on the coldest morning in the 'tron yet this winter - walking around Hamilton lake with my mate Anna. Wrap up everyone.. cheers Nic

Morning everyone, it's my first week off chemo now that it's shifted to every two weeks which is fabulous! And as the uni semester one is coming to a close what better picture to post than the clock tower at Auckland. No papers planned for the semester tour as things look a bit messy and up and down with treatment but plan to pick this back up again and submiss the one next year with my favourite papers biological archaeology which weren't offered this year are on the schedule for next! A friend of mine Stu who has myeloma also who I met first when meeting the medical team from a Shanghai private hospital in February is unfortunately needing urgent treatment and he and his wife left yesterday to go to Shanghai for car-t cell therapy. Give it heaps Stu!

Hi everyone.. delighted to say it appears my blood results are improving - highly likely as a result of the new drug .. feeling much better along with the improvement in biochem..!

Frustrated at not being able to get on my bike due to frozen shoulders.. have had a wee go on a recumbent.. at Cambridge Velodrome last Monday. Even got to see some nz olympians training. how cool was that!.. exploring volunteering at the velodrome... what a facility..never a dull moment here in the 'tron

thanks again everyone for your support..

Hi everyone.. week 4 of Daratumamab (yeah these drugs always seem to have difficult names to write/say/remember) .. popped down to the Rotorua lakefront in between showers after lunch with my cousin.. having spoken to the specialist last night will ideally see improvement in my blood results in another month or so.. in the meantime, I am tolerating the drug well which is great -as standard chemo brings a lot of challenging side effects which have meant we have jettisoned one, and reduced another from the regime! Those of you in Welly, with the difficult media, and the topsy turvy economic environment - may you be strong, but not so much the wind..

Hey everyone.. thanks so much for your kindness and generosity..I am on week 2 of the Daratumamab in Rotorua.. no long wait after the injection this week.. headed to Tarawera - where my gran used to live.. water's still warm enough to swim (as evidenced by needing to wade in to the water three times while having lunch to retrieve things of mine that the wind blew in..).. it's a lot easier to manage side effects wise than the standard chemo. That stuff has been knocking my immunity down into its boots, so hoping it's on the rise this week and can get out and about with a bit more confidenceabout. Keep riding all you gals on bikes... I was out today for 30 minutes.. third short escapade in 18 months due to the shoulder issue.. have missed it so much..
