    Hi all,

Unfortunately my scan showed that Ibrance is no longer working for me. I will now try another chemo (which is funded) and I'll be closing this page. I start the new chemo tomorrow.

Thanks a million for all your incredible support that allowed me to use Ibrance, you have been so generous ❤️

Thanks also for your sort in lobbying Pharmac, Fulvestrant is now being funded (as in right now!). Great result there and Ibrance will be sometime next year.

Have a great Christmas season xx

Hi everyone, I'm now into round 5 of Ibrance and feeling better each time. I have had my first scan and now awaiting results. Meanwhile today I found out that Fulvestrant will be funded from next week (current cost $1000 per month), it's awesome news and thanks to everyone who emailed Pharmac regarding this 😊

  • Help please this week!

      9 September 2019

Hi family and friends, sorry this is a long post but I really need your help (again), it should only take 5 minutes of your time 🙏

We need to act fast though, this needs to be done before the end of THIS week!

I'm response to the great news that Fulvestrant will be funded it has now come to light that this will not happen for the best part of a year! I am currently paying $1000.00 per month for this drug.

So we are lobbying Pharmac now to push for funding to happen a lot quicker than this.

Could I ask you to help me by sending a quick email to Pharmac?

This needs to be done by the end of this week.

Below are the things you need to mention (1-4).

    1. You fully support this proposal to fund Fulvestrant

    2. You know a close friend/family etc who needs this immediately

    3. Please provide this funding now under Section 29 of the Medicines Act

    4. Ask Medsafe to FAST TRACK it’s approval processes for Fulvestrant

Feel free to add any personal message regarding myself and many other New Zealand women dealing with the stress and burden of financing this and of course those others who simply cannot afford to due to the cost.

    Please email consult@pharmac.govt.nz

Use the heading on your email RESPONSE TO FULVESTRANT CONSULTATION

Thanks so much for reading this far and helping if you can, if you have questions let me know.

    Nic

  • Promising news

      1 September 2019

Hi, really great news from the government today with funding announced for several cancer drugs. One of them Faslodex is one I take by monthly injection ($1000) so hoping it is free very soon and the biggie Ibrance looks like it will be funded from April next year. I'm hoping it will be a lot sooner! I am nearing the end of my third round of Ibrance and have been feeling alot better. ☺️ Thanks everyone for your continued support xx

Hi again, yesterday I saw my oncologist and I got the go ahead to continue with more Ibrance. It will be a lower dose and I'm hoping this along with anti nausea medication that I will tolerate it better. Fingers crossed. Big thanks to Kath and everyone supporting the Lion King movie night. I'm looking forward to going and it will be a nice treat for the end of the school holidays for Olive and Violet. Nic x

  • How things are going for me

      26 June 2019

Hi, it's been a while since I posted an update. I was hoping to have some more definite news I could pass on since starting Ibrance. However everything has been very up in the air and most days bring a different challenge at the moment. My first round (3 weeks of taking medication) of Ibrance was challenging and my blood count and platelet levels have still not recovered enough that I am able to commence another round. So I am having regular bloodtests and waiting. I have also had some radiation which seems to have helped in parts of my bones but am hoping to have some more in my rib area which is causing me problems.

A big thank you to Cathy who organised the Bingo night and to everyone who helped, donated and went along, sounded like a crazy night with lots of laughs!

A special thanks to 11year old Luke for his generous donation, thats a big amount :-)

And for all other donations made.

    Have a great day

    Nic x

    Hi again,

It's Wednesday afternoon and I feel the need to thank so many people for their generous donations, so a huge THANKS! I now have enough for approx 5 months of treatment which I never really dreamed possible ❤️

If Ibrance works well for me after 11 treatments it is free. I will however still need to find thd Fulvestrant at $1000 per month.

    Have a great week everyone

    Nic xx

  • Wow!

      19 May 2019

    Hi all,

It's Sunday morning and I have been blown away with what has happened on this page. There are donations from people I know well, people I know a little and from people I don't know! From "people around the road" and "down the street ", friends of friends , from people who have already helped alot over this past 6 years. It really is amazing and I thank you all. I love receiving the comments too. ♥️

Thanks to those who have shared the page, I know its hard to spam your friends so I really appreciate that and it definitely helps to spread the word.

From this page so far and donations made directly to me I now have enough for over 3 treatments out of 11.

I can't thank everyone personally as a lot of donations are anonymous and also I would hate to miss anyone out but please know how grateful I am to each and everyone.

    Enjoy your Sunday, Nic xox
