Oscar is in pain
Christchurch, Canterbury
Prior to becoming unwell four years ago Oscar was a musician, singer, Rep hockey player and excelled at St Bedes College.
Fast forward to December 2023 he is fighting for his life and finally has answers.
Oscar has a confirmed diagnosis of abdominal vascular compression syndrome (AVCS) which is a rare disease particularly in males. New Zealand does not provide any treatment for AVCS. Dr Morata in Spain is one of the few in the world that provides this life saving surgery Oscar needs.
Oscar battles daily with debilitating abdominal pain, fatigue, poor sleep, belching, nausea, he is malnourished and can currently only hold down four foods and water. My brother has grown up fast as he was diagnosed at 13 months old with Type 1 Diabetes, which has its own challenges.
Due to Oscars poor health he was unable to finish high school, study or sustain employment. Oscar has aspirations to help others by working in healthcare.
Our whole family has endured enough suffering with watching Oscar deteriorate rapidly - particularly the last few months.
Please help us ❤️
If we do not raise our goal to send Oscar to Spain, all funds will go towards his on-going medical care at home to keep him medically stable and explore other treatment options.
Oscar is my youngest brother ❤️
Surgery, flights, and further medical imagining if needed. One months worth of accomodation transportation, time off work for Oscars Mum. All money will be put towards these expenses and associated costs post surgery- Eg. Physio etc.
