Help our Friend Caroline

Our lovely Caroline has been diagnosed with a rare tumour called adenosquamous carcinoma, which is a really aggressive cancer. Earlier this year Oncology said she has between three months to one year left. Absolutely devastating news for her and her family.

There is an immunotherapy treatment, Ketruda which works with your body to fight the cancer. Caroline will have an infusion every three weeks. The cost is $6,300 each treatment and she needs to raise $60,000. This treatment will give Caroline at least two years extra and possibly up to five years but sadly it’s not funded. Caroline has cashed in her KiwiSaver.

I suggested a givealittle page to pay back all her hard work managing the Arohanui Hospice Op Shop in Levin for the last six years. She has loved every minute of it with eighty volunteers and who all give 109% to Hospice. Often they have had family in Hospice care and are all very passionate about the cause. Caroline's dad died from Asbestosis at just 49 years old, hence why she was so dedicated to Hospice but never thought in her wildest dreams she would be referred there for her own care.

Peter and Caroline have been happily married for eighteen years with four children between them and ten precious grandchildren, which she would love more time with. She jokingly says Peter tricked her into coming to New Zealand, he said come to a tropical island in the South Pacific but never mentioned winter 😆
