Help our mum get life changing medication

Donations to fund our Mum's cancer medication that will prolong her life and give her more time with us.

Wellington

This woman here is our incredible mum who was first diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer during COVID in 2020. She managed to fight that off and kept it at bay for over four years — but now it’s back, and it’s tougher than before.

She’s currently undergoing chemo every two weeks, but her treatment has plateaued and we have been looking at other options. Two new medications (cetuximab and encorafenib) have become available that will give her more time with us, time she’s desperate for with her family and friends.

While we’ve been lucky enough to get partial funding through a compassionate access programme, there are still huge costs:

$26,079 for treatment fees, admin and couriers, and $8,739/month for medication that isn’t funded in NZ.

Over the next 5 months, that adds up to $69,774.

Our mum is someone who loves life, she loves her job and her family and her friends, she even loves the strangers she passes on the street. It’s not easy for her, nor the rest of us, to ask for help but this is something worth asking for.

There is not a single person more dedicated, determined, and more deserving to keep living their best life than our mum, we will do whatever we can to make sure she gets that. Again, this is a difficult ask, but any donations would mean the absolute world to our entire family.

Thank you for all your support.

New update: Massive thank you!  30 October 2025

Posted by: natasha gerbich

These new drugs have been mind blowing for me!

My oncologists at both private and public are amazed with how well I have responded.

I recently had a PET scan (1st since diagnosis) and where I had plateaued prior to starting cetuximab & encorafenib (unfunded), I have had ovarian cancers shrink 40-50%, areas completely diminished in the peritoneum and a couple of other nodules are now stable.

The best news is yet to come…

I had been denied cytoreductive surgery back in April due to the extensive disease found at the time & now 6 months later the Auckland specialist team have reviewed my case again & due to this incredible response they have agreed to the surgery after another 6months of chemo to cull as much as we can prior to surgery.

We will continue to fund these drugs for as long as possible & continue to push for future generations as thanks to every contribution, we have not only been able to access these drugs myself but we are now able to seriously see more valuable time ahead and there is nothing more precious than that.

All our love and thanks, Tash, Greg and kids x
