Please help Samuel have a better quality of life for these last months he has with his wife, daughter and loved ones.
Christchurch, Canterbury
It is with a very heavy heart I even have to write this. Unfortunately Samuel & his family have received the devastating news his cancer is back. They should be enjoying life instead they are dealing with the unimaginable.
This progressive disease means the tumor is inoperable & due to the rapid growth the doctors have given the life expectancy of months not years & that’s with radiation treatment he is starting next week. The doctors are worried it will make him worse but he’s getting worse anyway, so they are willing to try it.
Due to the rapid growth this has meant Samuel is getting symptoms that are affecting his left side. Now unable to use his arm & dragging his foot making it incredibly hard to get around. The doctors have tried a round of steroids to help with these symptoms with no improvement.
Leaving the next step a non funded drug in NZ called Avastin, this drug would help reduce swelling & symptoms on the brain hopefully giving Samuel a better quality of life for these months he has with his loved ones.
Unfortunately life insurance wasn’t an option for Samuel, after the first initial cancer diagnosis.
Leaving this family with no alternative options to cover the unfunded drug.
His wife is now his sole carer meaning she has had to leave her job & look after both Samuel & their daughter Luna.
With them both unable work. I have created this page to help fund the drug treatment & relieve the financial pressure of the household bills.
Ngā mihi nui
These lovely people are my best friends.
The funds raised will help pay for the unfunded treatment (Avastin) & household bills.
Thank you all!! 19 October 2023
Hello Everyone,
Just a quick update for all of you 😊
Samuel has completed 2 weeks of radiation this week and has an appointment soon in regards to starting Avastin (the unfunded drug).
Sam & Sam wanted to pass on their immense gratitude for the donations that have been made. They feel overwhelmed with the amount of support that has been shown to them by their families, friends and the More FM whānau. They are so grateful to you all ❤️ and cannot express what a difference this will make to them.
