    Hi Everyone,

    This will be our final post on this Givealittle page as it closes this month. Please feel free to reach out to either of us if you’d like to know how Pablo is doing!

    Pablo’s update:

    Pablo has improved a lot since his accident. Most of his wounds have now healed internally, with only a few still healing externally, but nothing of concern. His leg is still very unstable, so he will continue wearing his splint and having weekly bandage changes while we monitor his progress.

    He is eating and drinking normally, however he is currently dealing with some digestive issues 🫣 (if you know, you know), so between us we’ve adjusted work schedules to make sure someone is always home to supervise him.

    We still don’t know who caused this, so for now Pablo will remain an indoor cat. With help from Bayleigh’s dad, who is a builder, we will be building him a catio so he can safely enjoy the outdoors again.

    We also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated, shared Pablo’s story, or supported us through this incredibly difficult and unexpected act of cruelty.

    Even with pet insurance, savings, and family support, we could never have imagined how serious this became. Your donations helped cover Pablo’s ICU care after surgery which was the most critical time and we will be forever grateful ❤️

    We are so lucky to still have our boy. He is only one year young and now has his whole life ahead of him 🥹

    Hi everyone,

    We’re incredibly grateful to share that we’ve almost reached our fundraising goal. We can’t believe how many people have rallied behind Pablo and shown him so much love and support. While it’s heartbreaking that something so cruel could happen, it’s also reminded us how many kind and compassionate people there are. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

    We’ve also been grateful for the media coverage of Pablo’s story, including One News and talkback radio, which has helped raise awareness. Unfortunately, despite this, we still haven’t received any communication from the police confirming that his case is being actively investigated.

    Pablo’s update:

    Pablo has been enjoying every cuddle since coming home. Yesterday he had his one-week post-operative check-up, where his splint was checked and he underwent further tests.

    The good news is that he’s started eating small amounts on his own and is mostly in good spirits. However, his internal healing remains slow, and his body hasn’t yet started producing enough new red blood cells, so he’s still being monitored closely.

    We’re only a few more days away from hopefully knowing whether his bowel has healed successfully. If everything continues to go well, we’ll be through the most life-threatening stage of his recovery.

    Good morning

    Update 3 - 4th August.

    Pablo is home! 💛

    A week ago today, someone made an incredibly poor decision and fired six calculated shots at Pablo. Last night, we finally brought our little bud home.

    A whirlwind of emotions best describes how we’ve both been feeling over the past week, and we still haven’t quite processed it all.

    Having Pablo home is a huge milestone, but we also know this isn’t the end. He’ll need full-time care at home over the coming weeks, along with ongoing specialist appointments, as his little body continues to recover from the traumatic injuries he’s suffered. We’re still in a critical stage where we have to watch for signs of dehiscence, which is when the internal surgical wounds begin to break down.

    As we navigate this next stage, Pablo’s care doesn’t stop, and neither do the costs that come with it. Whether you’ve donated, shared our Givealittle page, or simply sent us a message of encouragement, we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us and helped give Pablo the best possible chance at recovery. Thank you.

    We still await any communication from the authorities as they begin investigating this incident, although we’re not holding much hope that anyone will be held accountable for their actions.

    For now, we’re simply grateful our boy is alive and finally home. We’ll continue to keep everyone updated as Pablo’s recovery progresses.

    Update #2 2 August 2026

    We honestly can’t believe we’re already over two-thirds of the way towards Pablo’s goal. Thank you so much to every single person who has donated, shared the page, or helped spread Pablo’s story. It’s reached far and wide, and we’re incredibly grateful for every bit of support.

    Pablo update:

    We visited Pablo in the ICU today, and there’s been a small but positive step forward. He’s now off his intravenous pain relief, which is a really encouraging sign.

    Unfortunately, he’s still not interested in eating, so the vets are going to place a nasal feeding tube to make sure he’s getting the nutrition he needs. Hopefully, this will also help support his recovery and give his body the best chance to rebuild his red blood cell count. If his red blood cells don’t regenerate as expected, we may still need to consider a live blood transfusion as a next step.

    If all goes well, and he starts eating on his own while his red blood cell count improves, we’re hoping to have our little mate back home as early as Monday evening at best.

    He’s already shown us just how much of a fighter he is, and we’re so proud of how hard he’s battling through this. We have every hope that he’ll continue moving in the right direction.

    Thank you again for all the kindness, generosity, and encouragement you’ve shown us. Words really can’t express how grateful Bayleigh and I are. Knowing so many people are behind Pablo means more than we’ll ever be able to say. ❤️

    Update #1 – 1 August 2026

    Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who has donated to Pablo’s recovery fund. Bayleigh and I are incredibly grateful for the love, financial support, kind messages, and words of encouragement you’ve shown for Pablo. We truly can’t put into words how much your generosity means.

    Pablo’s update

    We spent three hours with Pablo today. Following his surgery, he’s recovering slowly. He’s started moving around a little, although he’s still very sore.

    His red blood cell count remains low, and he’s still anaemic, so there’s a possibility he may need a blood transfusion to help his recovery.

    He’s also had a splint fitted to his leg, where one of the air rifle pellets entered and exited, causing a fracture.

    If Pablo continues to improve over the next couple of days, we’re hopeful he may be able to come home on Monday. For now, though, it’s still a waiting game as his body heals and recovers from the significant trauma he’s been through.
