Help us fundraise for a beautiful, extra-large locally inspired piece of public art!
Dunedin, Otago
Keep Dunedin Beautiful is refreshing it's George Street underpass mural.
The beloved North Dunedin mural is being extended, incorporating the word "Ōtepoti" with letters designed by 15 pupils from seven different schools in the area. 35 years or so ago, KDB ran a competition, with the winning cat then painted in repetition along the wall by pupils from Otago Girls High School. It also includes a plaque commemorating the very first Keep Dunedin Beautiful mural and the people who painted it.
While remembering the history and story behind the first mural, the additional will bring a burst of creativity and colour to our streets, inviting residents and visitors alike to experience the joy and inspiration that public art brings.
Please show your support for public art and its evolving nature with a donation if you can, we really appreciate it! How else can you help? Please support us by spreading the word, sharing this page and give us a follow-on Facebook to watch the mural progress unfold.
Keep Dunedin Beautiful work in partnership with the Dunedin City Residents to encourage and support civic pride and improvement of our natural world.
We're fundraising to help with the costs of traffic management, paint, facilitation, artists and other costs for this project. Please contribute if you can and help us paint this summer!
