We wanted to give a final update to you all.

Paul has had six infusions of Avastin over a 18 week period thanks to your generous donations. There is no doubt that Avastin helped with Paul’s mobility and quality of life and he even jumped on his e-bike and went for ride and beach walk at Island Bay! Unfortunately though it is no longer effective and providing the benefits we had previously seen.

So, with heavy hearts, we agreed with the oncologist that it was time to stop the treatment. While this has been a difficult decision we do know it is the right one.

In the months since beginning the Avastin we have continued to make wonderful happy memories together, some highlights have been: going to Auckland for Paul to receive the IMNZ Independent Spirit Award for his enduring commitment to local music; going to Dunedin to see Zak settled into his new life as a uni student and having a primo spot at the Wellington, Sleaford Mods gig.

The residual funds from your donations will be used for things related to Paul’s comfort and well-being. We really appreciate all of the aroha and awhi you have given us, this and your generosity has helped to lighten our load on this difficult journey.

Don’t forget to tell those significant in your life how much they mean to you, give them a hug, and as trite as it may sound, make the most of every day.

    Aroha nui

    Paul, Trish and Zak xox

Time to tell you something, I'm going onto to Avastin tomorrow!! It's taken some time but it's here! We saw the Doctor today and he said we can start it tomorrow as they had just enough Avastin in stock. Got to give thanks to everyone who donated and who came to the gig, I still haven't really got over it. Humbled! Thanks to Trish for all the support and kindness, she has got that in spades! Thanks also to my son Zak, my sister Tess and her partner Rod, and also my Dad! There are too many people to thank here, far too many so if you helped out, then THANK YOU!!! Roll on Avastin!!!!!

We have been overwhelmed with the generosity, aroha and awhi everyone who has contributed to Paul's GiveALittle has shown. Your generosity has exceeded our hopes and we are now able to close this page as you've enabled a solid foundation for Paul to access Avastin. At the first consultation in this process we've been advised to wait, for now, before beginning Avastin. We see this as positive and the funds raised here have been set aside for when it does begin. Words can't truly express the gratitude we feel. Aroha nui Paul, Trish and Zak xox

My heartfelt thanks and gratitude goes to each and every one of you for your support to help Paul to access the unfunded drug Avastin, it means more than words can express. Your help eases some of the pressure experienced in an already challenging journey.

I really hope that Pharmac will fund Avastin, for others in Paul's situation in future so they don't need to seek the support of the community to enable access to a drug that is publicly funded for glioblastoma (GBM) sufferers in Australia, UK, USA.

I am so grateful to each and everyone of you - thank you! ❤

    Aroha nui Trish xx
