Help Piet run: A horse stood on Piet’s leg when a puppy so he’s in pain all the time. An operation would mean he could run pain-free.
Nationwide
Meet Piet. He’s a Hungarian Vizsla – one of the fastest dog breeds in the world. Born to run. Unfortunately, a Clydesdale horse stood on his leg when he was a puppy and now he's in pain all the time. I’m Piet’s auntie fundraising for the $14,000 operation and medication he needs that would mean he can have adventures pain-free.
The vet says he would be able to run to his heart’s content and go on long bush walks again. These are his favourite things as well as going to the beach and snuggling with family. The American Kennel Club calls Vizslas graceful athletes. Piet would love your help so he can be just that for the rest of his life. He says thank you!
Catherine is my sister and Piet's owner.
Piet would love it if you could help him have the operation his heart desires, so he can have pain-free long bush walks and runs on the beach. He loves having fun with his dog buddies and would be very grateful. If we do not reach our goal for surgery, funds will be used for Piet's arthritis pain management.
The operation 20 February 2024
The funds required are costly because the procedure includes anaesthesia for preliminary imaging for planning purposes (last x-rays were when he was a puppy), followed by the surgery which involves another general anaesthetic and fusing his joint using a stainless steel implant (built from the images) and a autologous bone graft, followed by 4-6 weeks of out-patient after care (new dressings each week), as well as medications.
Thank you Dana! Piet is stoked
