Help Pixie Twist go global!

Hey fam, I'm Pixie Twist and I'm a burlesque artist based in Glamilton (Hamilton, NZ.) Last year I won three national titles in burlesque, including Queen of the New Zealand Burlesque Festival. This year I also won the Burlesque Exchange Scholarship (BES) award: $2000 towards international travel, granted to the performer the New Zealand Burlesque Festival deems will best represent the NZ Burlesque community on the world stage.

I applied to a bunch of amazing burlesque festivals across the world hoping to get into just one- and I’ve been accepted into FOUR! It’s extremely difficult to get into any overseas festival (many of them receive hundreds and hundreds of applications), so it’s pretty incredible to be accepted into so many.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and I feel so honoured to be invited to travel the world with my art, but despite the help of the BES and my own savings, it’s well out of reach for me to do all of this by myself. (For flights alone, the cheapest quote I can find is almost $6000!)

I’m still waiting to hear back from two festivals and some that I’ve been accepted into are yet to announce me (so I can’t share just yet), but this opportunity will mean five weeks of travel across the USA, Canada and Australia- starting at the 7th Annual Hawaii Burlesque Festival and Revue. I’ll be using time between festivals to explore even more performance opportunities and learn from some of the best in the business, so I can bring home new skills and knowledge to help develop our community here in NZ.
