Help Portia Walk Again 🐾

    Little update on Miss Portia 🐾 We were back at the vet this week and it turns out she’s got two ear infections — poor girl. When the vet checked one of her ears she let out a squeal, which really isn’t like her at all. She’s normally so tolerant of being poked and prodded, so if she’s telling us it hurts, we know it must be properly sore.

    On a brighter note, some of the Give a Little donations have already come through, and I’ve been able to put them straight to good use — Portia now has a proper orthopaedic bed waiting for her for after her surgery. It’s going to make such a difference to her recovery, giving her the support she needs while those legs heal.

    We’re so grateful for everyone who’s donated so far — it’s already making a real difference to her care. If you haven’t yet and are able to, every little bit helps get her through her operation and recovery in the most comfortable way possible. And if you can’t donate, sharing her story helps just as much 💕

  • Surgery update

    I forgot to mention that only one of Portia’s cruciate ligaments will be operated on. We don’t have a date for the other one at this stage.

  • Surgery Date Confirmed! 🐾

    I'm so relieved to share that Portia's surgery is officially scheduled for 10 September! After weeks of vet visits, assessments, and waiting, we finally have a date on the calendar. Portia has been such a trooper through all of this, and I know she'll handle recovery with the same sweet spirit she brings to everything else.

    I've made sure the surgery is happening no matter what, because Portia's health can't wait any longer. But covering this kind of cost has put a real strain on things, and every donation, share, and kind word makes a genuine difference in helping us recover from that. If you're able to contribute or just help spread her story, it means the world.

    Thank you to everyone who has supported Portia so far, whether through donations, sharing her story, or simply sending good thoughts. This community has carried us through a really tough stretch, and I couldn't be more grateful. I'll keep you all updated as the surgery date approaches and share how she's doing every step of the way. 💕

  • Vet visit

    Today Portia was back at the vets with an upset stomach and sore bumbum. With think she is also grieving her nana and sensing my stress. Antibiotics, probiotics and nappy rash cream. $180 later! She’s currently resting in her crate with her Teddy and bunny.

    But in good news she’s lost 500gms in a month which is less weight on her little leggies.

  • Out for a ‘walk’

    I never thought I’d join the stroller mum club, but here we are. Portia has to be clicked in because she’s desperate to get out and walk alongside McKenna (and sniff all the smells)

    I do get her out to go to the toilet when she asks and then she tries to run away. Typical shihtzu

  • Sad news

    My mother who was in end of life care, sadly passed away Saturday 18 July. I know that Portia is going to miss her nana and the Saturdays together.
