Help protect the unique and pristine night skies of Central Otago

Central Otago night skies are unique because of it's combination of weather, landscape, demographics and latitude. Only 0.001% of humanity live in areas where the Gallactic Core of our Milky Way passes overhead and Aurora are regularly visible. Central Otago is just about the only place in the World to have this, with the bonus of regular clear skies. But this precious treasure is under increasing threat from light pollution. Seeking International Dark Sky Reserve status for Central Otago will mean we have created protections that will allow the continued development of the region, without our children losing the inspiration, awe and beauty of the dark skies that we and our ancestors have enjoyed here.
