My mum has been through a lot. After trying to get of the benefit for a while, she has been stuck with no car and money.
Hawke's Bay
My mum has been through a lot over the years and after an abusive marriage has ended up on her own again. She totally hates being on a benefit and found it hard, being over 50 to get back into the workforce. So she used all her tax returns and a bank loan to train as a nail technician and start up her own business. She lives in Otane, and started doing well as a mobile nail technician. Unfortunately the transmission went on her car, with an estimate of over $2800 for repairs. She went to WINZ with her quote and was turned down, with them saying that the costs was too high, that WINZ would only be able to give her $400 towards the costs, and that she needs to sell her car despite the transmission. Now, back totally on the benefit she is really struggling with no money for food and no transport at all. Even though this was her means of getting off the benefit, they couldn’t care less.
I want to help my mum get off the benefit so she can get back on with her life doing what she loves.
I Am her son trying to help out as much as i can.
The use of the funds will be going to my mum to help her purchase a car so she can start working again.

As you might be aware, my mother was interviewed for both stuff and the Dominion Post. If you would like to read this, the link can be found below.
