Raymond has suffered a serious spinal cord injury during a motorsport event. Donations for his care and spinal cord injury research.
Auckland
Raymond was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident on the afternoon of May 19 this year when the Toyota 86 he was co-driving lost control on the last stage of the Targa Hawkes Bay 2019 rally event. As a result of the accident Raymond has had a dislocation of the C4-C5 vertebrae causing complete injury to the spinal cord. He still has his complete mental functionality (despite some minor short term memory issues) and is able to move his head, neck and shoulders, although unfortunately due to the nature of the injury he is paralyzed below the shoulders.
We are aware that there are many friends of Raymond and his family who would like to help, as well as various other people in the Racing and wider community, and we feel that a Giveallittle page is a great way to facilitate that to happen for those that want to contribute.
As you may be aware ACC in NZ covers a large proportion of the costs associated with a sporting accident related injury and the patients ongoing care, however as is always the case there will be a number of costs that the family and Raymond are bearing and will continue to bear into the future that will not be covered.
We compete in motorsport events together.
For Raymonds ongoing day to day care and donating a portion of the funds to the New Zealand Spinal Trust (https://nzspinaltrust.org.nz) and/or the Catwalk Spinal Cord Injury Research Trust (www.catwalk.org.nz).
