Help Meri Haapu, a devoted single mother of 10 who lost everything in a devastating house fire, rebuild her life and provide for her babies.
Gisborne
On Thursday, September 19th, 2024, our beloved whānau, Meri Haapu, experienced an unimaginable tragedy. Her home, filled with memories, was consumed by a devastating fire that started in the kitchen. The cause is still being confirmed, but the outcome is heartbreakingly clear, Meri and her 6 children have lost everything.
Meri is a single mother who has dedicated her life to others. Whether it’s volunteering to cater for community events or being the first to offer help to any whānau member in need, Meri has always been there with open arms and a giving heart. She never hesitates to drop everything when someone is unwell or in need, pouring her love and energy into making sure others are cared for.
Now, Meri and her children have nothing but the clothes they escaped in. Everything else, their home, belongings and the sense of security they once knew—is gone.
This is a call to action for everyone who knows the impact Meri has had on our community. It’s our turn to give back to someone who has given so much. Your donations, no matter how big or small, will help Meri rebuild her life and provide the essentials she and her children need to start over.
Let’s show Meri that the love she’s shared with all of us will come back to her tenfold. Please, donate what you can, and share this page so that others can help too. Every contribution is deeply appreciated and will go directly to helping Meri and her children rebuild from this tragic loss.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
I am her aunty.
