Help rescue the Bethells Beach Surf Life Saving Patrol clubhouse so we can do what we do best - save lives!
Auckland
The flooding of the past two years and cyclone has caused widespread destruction at Bethells Beach. Our job is to save lives in the beautiful yet dangerous waters of Bethells Beach but we couldn't save our treasured surf lifesaving - now we need rescuing!
Our clubhouse is the heart of our operations. It has enabled thousands of first aids, hosts trainings and lifesaving camps, is home to our junior surf, stores all our essential equipment including our ATVs and IRBs, is a community hub and a meeting place to unify our lifeguards during tragedy and celebration.
The substantial damage to our deck and foundations of the training room/lounge and bunkrooms has left us with a ‘Yellow Sticker’. To ensure our operational capability over the next few months, it is imperative we deconstruct the lounge and bunkrooms URGENTLY. Removing the back-end and ‘sealing’ the remainder of the building will allow us to have an operational kitchen, a crucial first-aid room, radio control room and our gear sheds.
PLEASE HELP US RAISE $34,500 SO WE CAN DO WHAT WE DO BEST – SAVE LIVES AT BETHELLS BEACH!
Given we are potentially not insured due to the 50 year flood zone happening 49 years early (precisely why we had been working on our relocation plans for the last two years), we need to raise $34,500 to facilitate the removal, building materials, labour and electrical work needed to save our clubhouse today!
If we receive any insurance cover, this will help in part with the future relocation and new build of our clubhouse - your donation today will help with the urgent clubhouse recovery needed right now!
Bethells Beach Surf Life Saving Patrol is a charity founded in 1958. Our enduring purpose is to keep our West Coast beach communities safe. Our volunteer lifeguards save lives with 0 drownings between the flags. In it for life!
This fundraising will pay for the demolition and removal of the back-end of the clubhouse, the building materials and labour to seal off and recover the front and all of the electrical work required to make the rescued clubhouse operational and safe.
Our clubhouse but not as we know it 2 May 2023
Thanks to the amazing generosity of all of you wonderful people, the demolition and temporary reinstatement of our beloved clubhouse is nearing completion.
Your support has been overwhelming and has made us feel incredibly humbled.
Your donations along with support from Fifth Season Ltd, First National Waitakere, Alpha Charitable Trust, Western ITM Swanson Swanson Transport, Glen Eden Intermediate School, Ohaupo Primary School, Dwyer Builders, Dave Armstrong Electrical Services, DKL Projects, Caught Ya Security and Hybrid Technologies means we have reached our fundraising target for our temporary repair of our clubhouse!
Thank you from the bottom of our BBSLSP hearts for helping us to keep our communities safe and we so hope you will join us on the next ‘wave’ of fundraising that will be needed for the relocation and build of a new clubhouse. Stand-by for that wave as it is going to be one heck of a ride and we would love to have you on board with us!
