Fundraiser to cover expenses for Richard’s sister to fly to the UK and return with his ashes
Nationwide
The sad and tragic passing of Richard Prosser in the UK on June 10th has left a gaping hole in many peoples’ lives, not just his immediate family and friends. He was a husband, father, son, brother, relative, colleague, friend, activist and political and social commentator. However you might have known him, his death will have touched you in some personal way and each of you will be going through your own journey with that knowledge.
His family have been so deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support from friends and the community, it is a small comfort to them in their time of distress and mourning. His wife has said "It means a lot to know how many lives he has touched, and how far his reach and words have spread.”
It is not always easy in times like these to know how to honour his life and memory or how to support the family left behind. Many have asked what they can do and offered help, so we have set up a givealittle page to help fund and support the expensive business of bringing him home to New Zealand. He needs to come back to Central Otago, a place he loved and where a piece of his heart still is. Anything, you can give, however small, to support this would be deeply appreciated and most welcome at this difficult time.
Any funds raised beyond that which is needed to bring him home will be donated to mental health charities in New Zealand.
Thank you in advance for your gift. Your support means so much to his family at this time.
A friend. Angela Prosser is Richard's sister.
Flights from NZ to the UK return for Richard’s sister to execute his will and bring his ashes home. Any excess funds will be donated to a mental health charity
5th July update 5 July 2022
Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed so far to the fund to bring Richard's ashes home. At the moment, airfares are exorbitant, and every cent is helping to make it possible to fly the Prosser family representative (Richard's sister Angela) to the UK, in time for the funeral on the 18th of July. This will be live-streamed so that all of us in NZ can 'attend'. Later on, in early Spring, there will be a memorial service for Richard in NZ - the details are currently being worked out.
