Rowan Update
28 January 2020Here’s an update on how Rowan’s treatment is going. Initially Rowan was diagnosed with Lymphoma Large B-cell, but at this stage doctors were not 100% sure. Rowan’s case was reviewed at a medical conference and the consensus based on further testing showed the mass to be a mediastinal lymphoma (still a large B cell cancer).
The treatment plan required for this diagnosis is more intense, which involves an infusion of chemotherapy drugs for 5 days (every 14 days) instead of only 3 hours. This was not what we were hoping for, but thankfully the prognosis is similar.
As the treatment is tougher on Rowan, he has found the side effects somewhat more intense. He had some chest pain which worsened to the point of spending the night in hospital. During this time, he had an X-ray done which showed a clear reduction in size of the mediastinal mass, which we were all very happy about!!!
Rowan had his 3rd cycle last week which was increased once again as his body tolerated the second cycle well. Rowan’s doctors are happy with the progress of his chemotherapy and everything appears to be tracking well. We appreciate everyone’s involvement to helping Rowan through this. All the kind gestures, messages and donations have definitely taken a lot of pressure off. I know Rowan, Becky and Lockie are extremely thankful.

Hey guys, the most intensive chemo is often the one that works the most. Rowan stay strong and beat it! I’ve seen it done and you can do it!
