Help Ruby Pratt compete at the GPC World Championships in Slovakia in 2024!
New Plymouth, Taranaki
Ruby Pratt has only been powerlifting for a handful of months but already has a few world records under her belt.
Ruby turned 15 in October. She currently trains at Rampage Gym in New Plymouth, with her coach and trainer Wayne Hardy. Ruby trains with Wayne 6 days a week and is determined to get to the top in this sport.
Ruby competed for the first time in June at the Day of the Dead lifts in Huntly, where she broke the New Zealand record of 82.5kgs. Ruby ended up breaking the both the New Zealand and the World record 3 times with a final lift of 98.5kgs. She then went on to qualify for the Summer Slam National Global Powerlifting Committee (GPC competition) held in Te Awamutu on the 4th of November 2023.
While competing at the GPC competition in Te Awamutu, Ruby broke another New Zealand and World record with her first lift of 110kgs. Ruby then broke the New Zealand record again, and the WORLD RECORD for all her lifts, with her next two lifts of 117.5kgs and 125kgs.
As a result, Ruby has been invited to compete for New Zealand at the GPC World Championship in Slovakia in October 2024.
Money raised will go towards Ruby taking up the invitation to represent New Zealand.
