Help Sandy, 71, achieve his dream of representing New Zealand at the Oceania Powerlifting Championships in Fiji.
Otago
At 71 years old, Sandy has taken on a challenge that most people wouldn’t even consider.
After a health scare in 2025, Sandy had to make a change. He threw himself into powerlifting and, since then, has dedicated himself to training, competing and becoming the best version of himself.
That hard work has now paid off. Sandy has been selected to represent New Zealand at the Oceania Powerlifting Championships in Fiji at the ripe age of 71.
For Sandy, this is a huge achievement and a dream come true. But unfortunately, getting there comes at a significant personal cost. The trip is completely self-funded, including flights, accommodation, uniforms and everything else in between.
At 71, Sandy is semi-retired, but still working to help fund his training and travel at regional competitions. There simply isn’t much disposable income left over for an international competition in Fiji.
So, we’ve set up this page to help Sandy get there.
Anyone who knows Sandy knows his heart, determination and dedication. He has worked incredibly hard for this opportunity, and we’d love to see him rewarded for that effort by getting on the plane and proudly representing New Zealand.
Every donation, big or small, will help get Sandy to Fiji and one step closer to accomplishing this incredible dream.
If you’re able to contribute, we’d be hugely grateful. And if you can’t donate, sharing this page with your friends and family would mean just as much.
Sandy is my old man. He’s always put me first and been there for me. So, it’s time for me to step in and help him accomplish one of his dreams.
