I am moving to New York City to start my Masters of Music but need some help with the cost of study and living.
Wellington
In August of this year I will be moving to New York City to begin my Masters in Orchestral Performance at the Manhattan School of Music. I will be studying under Colin Williams of the New York Philharmonic as one of two trombone students chosen internationally for the highly selective Orchestral Performance Program. The school has given me a very generous scholarship towards my fees but I still need to fund the remainder as well as the cost of living.
I feel extremely privileged to have been offered such an amazing opportunity to study at one of the best music schools in the world. Attending the Manhattan School of Music will provide me with the extraordinary opportunity to study closely alongside the trombonists of the New York Philharmonic. Living in one of the most culturally diverse cities on the planet will also provide me with a rich array of musical and artistic experiences that cannot be experienced anywhere else in the world.
I'm a trombone player from Wellington and have just finished my Bachelor's of Music with Honours at the New Zealand School of Music where I have studied with Matthew Allison of the NZSO. I have been a member of the National Youth Orchestra, a musician in the Royal New Zealand Airforce Band, and have regularly performed with regional orchestras across the country including the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Wellington.
I have enjoyed my musical journey in New Zealand and am excited to embark on this next chapter of my career!
The money raised will go towards the initial cost of living and studying in New York. This includes the remaining cost of tuition as well as living expenses to get me set up.
