Please help us continue caring for our beloved historical site, by making a donation now.

The Mt Robert Foundation is trying to raise funds to upgrade and preserve two historical alpine huts that have played a big part in the history and culture of New Zealand skiing and alpine education for over 7 decades.

The Mt Robert Foundation huts are situated in The Nelson Lakes National Park are currently used by the majority of secondary schools in the upper south island, by local Polytechnics, for The Department of Conservation ranger training and by local alpine enthusiasts, but they need upgrading!

To do this we are desperately trying to raise $150,000 to preserve the huts and we need your help.

Long Term Environmental Plan - Our Dreams For The Future

It is our dream to see the re-introduction of New Zealand's endangered Kea back into our National Park and we hope that with the upgrade of the huts The Kea Conservation Trust will use our huts as a permanent centre to try to re-establish these beautiful birds back into the Nelson Lakes alpine environment.

Ian Bradford recalls Kea in Nelson Lakes: “In my early years in Nelson Lakes National Park, I spent a lot of time on the tops. It was quite common to see flocks of 20 or more Kea circling above us.” Now it is thought that there is just one pair left!

The Trustees thank you for your support and enthusiasm for The Mt. Robert Foundation and look forward to securing a strong future for this amazing place.

Thank you for being a friend of Mt. Robert.
