We're raising funds to help a friend get a new home (van) to live in, as she is stranded in the middle of nowhere in South Island
Nationwide
Our lovely friend Momo is stuck in South Island, her treasured Blue (her van and home) has broken down for the final time (blown head gasket) and she is stranded in a tiny town. We want to help her find a new one which will be slightly more reliable as soon as possible, as she will be needing to move on from there in about a week. If we can find a new motor that will fit Blue we will do that instead, it will be a matter of what we can find and what we can afford.
Momo is a German Chocolatier who has been traveling around NZ going to festivals, volunteering her time at community-run spaces, and generally making people's lives more interesting for more than a year now. We met her at Levin Market 2020 and she ended up coming and helping us out with our market stall at Splore. I can honestly say I would not have made it through that weekend without her help (and the others who were there). My health has been horrible this year, and I've spent most of it stuck in my bed unable to go out; so she has been (and is) an absolute ray of sunshine.
She came here from Australia and is trying to make NZ her home. I know we cannot be the only people whose lives she has brightened while she has been here. Momo is a gorgeous, generous soul who is hopefully going to stay, but has to wait for an appointment in Feb to get her visa to do so; and needs somewhere to call home until then.
If you have met our Momo, at a festival or in her travels here or overseas, and if you have any money spare to help out then please do. If we could afford to buy her a new van outright we would, but we don't have the money. She is also trying to find money from other sources, but there have been a lot of bills this year and she can't earn money until her visa comes through! It has been a stressful and expensive year for everyone, so anything we can raise to help out would really be appreciated.
We have friends lined up to help her look at vehicles & potentially help repair any issues the new van may have, and we can help her convert it to a living space ourselves if needed. We're not going for anything top of the range, just something reliable that runs.
She can stay on the property where she is now for another week, but if there is anyone in the South Island who would be able to help her get her current vehicle somewhere else & host her for a while please let us know; or would be able to potentially do repair work on a new vehicle or replace Blue's motor entirely.
Please help us get Momo a new spaceship that is reliable and will let her get to where she needs to be, she is stuck in the middle of nowhere until we can find a solution. <3
Momo is a good friend of mine and a gorgeous and generous person :)
The money will be spent on the purchase of a new vehicle/motor, any repairs needed, and alterations into a tiny home.
New Spaceship! 26 January 2021
Momo has acquired a new Momo-mobile! It is definitely still a van, not a home, but we have friends lined up to help her with it mechanically, and we will help her trick it out completely once she can safely make it to us.
It has been christened Fuchur, after the luck dragon in the Neverending Story. She had a friend of ours on the phone while looking at it to give a solid going over, and we have sent some supplies over to him, so he can help her make the repairs it needs.
She managed to borrow the money needed off a friend, but she still has to pay him back for it somehow and has the additional costs of the upcoming appointment, processing her visa, and the costs of turning it into a proper home. Please still send something if you can, even $5 will be an immense help.
Lastly, thank you SO MUCH to those who have donated. They have meant a lot to Momo, and to me as well. It's been good being able to show her how much of an impact she makes on people and that even with everything going on, there are still those who have the generosity to help. <3
